Solindis is expanding its cellulose esters product portfolio with the introduction of Cellulose Acetate Butyrate CAB 381-20 and CAB 531-1. These additions provide formulators with greater flexibility in performance, durability, and application versatility.
CAB 381-20 is a cellulose acetate butyrate with high butyryl content and high viscosity. The product combines good solubility and compatibility with excellent surface hardness, moisture resistance, and strong film formation. Supplied as a dry, free-flowing powder, CAB 381-20 is particularly suitable for automotive coatings, wood coatings, plastics coatings, adhesives, and nail varnishes.
CAB 531-1 has a higher butyryl content than CAB 381-type esters and forms tough, flexible films with good resistance to marring and weathering. In combination with thermoplastic acrylic resins, it enables coatings with enhanced durability. CAB 531-1 requires less plasticizer than CAB 381 esters and is soluble in a wide range of solvents, making it ideal for coatings, automotive OEM applications, plastic coatings in the automotive sector, and cosmetics like nail varnishes.
